The seventh annual Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival will take place September 9-12 at The Appalachian South Folklife Center in Pipestem, WV. Diversity is not a concept normally associated with West Virginia. That is often an unfair perception because there are many angles of diversity that are in fact valued and represented in our state. At the same time, we all know we are the least ethnically diverse state in the country and there are major issues to overcome.

Just today, I discussed Create West Virginia with a South African friend, now living in DC, who lived many years in Mountain State. From this conversation I was directed to look abroad, to South Africa.
