Christina Ciocca, a PR professional from Connecticut, wrote a nice piece about her recent visit to Charleston. It's another wakeup call about the baggage that people bring to our state in terms of preconceived images, but it's a reminder that as people experience our state, there is much to celebrate and share.
Thanks Christina, you're welcome back anytime. And keep spreading the word about West Virginia, we're not only "open for business," we're open for visitors and new citizens who are looking for what you found. From the Stamford Advocate article:
"Charleston reassured me it's possible to maintain a friendly manner, a peaceful demeanor and a low-stress lifestyle even when the country is facing "some of the largest challenges since the Great Depression," as we've heard. Speaking with some of West Virginia's business and political leaders, as I had the good fortune to do, it became clear that this news is not enough to erase a sense of optimism and hope for the future -- qualities that are going down the drain in Washington, D.C., and the New York metro area."
