West Virginia Welcomes a New Creative Misfit

Mayra Ruiz-McPherson

OK, so there are those who dabble in social networking and media. And then there are those who live social networking and media, blazing new trails and teaching the rest of us about its potential as they go.

The latter describes Mayra Ruiz-McPherson, a wonderful new addition to the creative talent base here in West Virginia. Mayra comes to WV from Puerto Rico via Washington DC and the Northern VA suburbs. She has made the Charles Town area her home base for her marketing and PR consulting firm and her widely-read blog Marketing Misfit.

Many in West Virginia are dipping their toe in the Facebook, Twitter and Flickr waters, but Mayra has jumped in head first. If you meet with her, expect your experience to be shared. After all, social connections are a value currency in today's connected world, and Mayra knows how to share this kind of value.

Mayra is eager to work with Create WV and to meet the other creative folks in the state. She leads several social media seminars and workshops, and we hope to work with her to schedule sessions throughout West Virginia in 2009.

For now, please join me in welcoming Mayra to West Virginia, and let's keep promoting West Virginia as a "Great State to Create!"

thank you; such a nice post

Jeff, meeting you was wonderful as well. I was really craving to connect with like-minded folks in our state and I believe you will be instrumental in helping me to achieve this goal. I think there is so much potential here in Charles Town and in surrounding areas and I seek opportunities to make an impact and difference. I welcome ideas, input and thoughts on how to go about this and definitely want to align myself with your Create West Virginia initiative. I believe you are on to something *big* and would be awesome to share in that positivity with you and your team. Looking forward to connecting with folks, a road show, a whatever you name it ... I'm in :)
