March 28th - April 4th, 2009 is the first annual All Together Arts Week across Mercer County, West Virginia. ATAW is an observance and celebration of the thriving arts community in that county. The mission of the event is to showcase the vast landscape of arts that Mercer County holds and to unite the various artists and arts groups that exist across the county.
ATAW is a project of the Create Mercer County Team, which developed through workshops with the organization Create West Virginia.
On December 9th, 2008, The Mercer County Commission unanimously passed a resolution declaring March 28th-April 4th ATAW and also declared it to be an annual event. During the week, events will take place across the county and a kickoff event on March 28th will start the celebration. Arts organizations from all over Mercer County will have tables promoting their programs, and all Mercer County artists will have the opportunity to have their work showcased in a massive display. In addition, outstanding artists nominated by participating organizations will be showcased with special displays and performances.
Check out the great work going on in Mercer County and plan to participate!
